An overview of the structure and objectives of the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR), and information on the Material related work that is executed under the USCAR’s U.S. Automotive Materials Partnership (USAMP) and FreedomCAR and Fuels Partnership. Share examples of successes achieved, with an emphasis on casting related innovations.
Automotive Powertrain Applications of Cast Magnesium

Emerging automotive powertrain applications of cast magnesium; identifying and overcoming production implementation challenges. Focus will be the emergence of magnesium as a structural material for powertrain applications and how USCAR has enabled OEM partnership to advance the technology of light metals, specifically magnesium. Examples will be the magnesium-intensive engine and the Corvette engine cradle.
