    This is a history of the iron foundry industry in the U.S.  The presentation discusses and shows the processes used and the social environment for the foundrymen of that era, and what made the iron foundry industry the hub of all American industry.

    Metal Casting Industry in China by Prof Charles White, Kettering University

    Professor White will share his insight and experiences from a visit to a 19th century iron producing foundry in Shanghai, China this summer.  He will also share his observations of the machining and fastening companies he visited while there.  A discuss about the China people and their university and education will round out this session.

    As one of the newest foundry schools, SVSU is creating a tradition of excellence in metalcasting education one student at a time. The innovative mechanical engineering and foundry curriculum at SVSU provides students with the best training available for the current and future needs of industry. SVSU students are given multiple opportunities to obtain hands-on experience in the metalcasting process and learn using the latest technology. The mechanical engineering program at SVSU prides itself on teaching theory and practice..
